Famous Celebrities and Athletes Who Use or Endorse CBD
Famous people are the leaders of popular opinion. Many people follow them, and oftentimes their fans even idolise them. Here we will give you our list of 14 celebrities from different spheres of life who consume or endorse CBD. Are you ready to hear about the personal stories of people you most certainly know? If so, let’s get going!
What is CBD?
First of all, before we talk about CBD, it’s essential to know what this compound is. CBD is short for cannabidiol, one of over 120 cannabinoids, which are elements found in the hemp plant. Although some people believe that CBD is associated with the so-called “entourage effect” and perhaps intoxication, according to various studies, this compound cannot get one high or cause intoxication.
In fact, CBD is approved by the World Anti-Doping Agency as a permitted compound.
CBD can be infused into various products, including flowers, oils and tinctures, edibles, terpene sprays, sports gels, extracts, e-liquids, cosmetics, different equipment and others. There are also a number of ways to consume CBD: smoking, vaping, massaging, topical use, adding it to food or drinks, etc.
According to numerous studies, the common potential benefits of CBD include helping with anxiety, stress, depression, glaucoma, seizures, insomnia, high blood pressure, chronic pain, muscle spasms, acne, epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease.
However, this compound can cause several side effects. As per various scientific papers, this list includes drowsiness, gastrointestinal issues, dry mouth, nausea, liver injury, fluctuating alertness, decreased appetite, diarrhoea, lung disease and numerous medication interactions.
It’s important to keep in mind that not enough research has been done on CBD, so more proof of the real benefits of CBD is still needed.
Some celebrities (film, sports stars and influencers) are following the scientific findings, and we will tell you about 14 of them below.
Let’s start with the celebrities who became famous through their work in films. We guess all of you know Tom Hanks from his films or have at least heard of him. He’s probably one of the most well-known movie stars worldwide. He is widely regarded as an American icon and has directed many blockbusters (“Big”, “Philadelphia”, “Apollo 13”, “From the Earth to the Moon”, “Cast Away”, “Band of Brothers”, “The Da Vinci Code” and others) in his distinguished career.
Hanks said he used CBD for anxiety and described how it positively affected him in his work. Tom even teamed up with Cornell University to explore how CBD can help people with type 2 diabetes.
Olivia Wilde is an acclaimed director, model, producer, activist and actress. Besides doing great work in a number of films in different genres, she also fulfils a vital role in social organisations created by celebrities (including Artists for Peace and Justice).
She is a famous celebrity and a huge fan of using CBD hemp oils for her high heel foot pain. In an interview, she spoke of how CBD eased her pain during a six-month play on Broadway.
An American comedian and television personality, Whoopi Goldberg is known for her vast array of films and plays. During her career, she has won several prestigious awards such as Academy, Emmy, Grammy and Tony awards.
Goldberg is passionate about how CBD can help women, especially those who are middle-aged and suffer from cramps, period pain, dysmenorrhea, nerve pain and menopausal discomfort. Whoopi herself is a testament to CBD oil and uses CBD for glaucoma, pain and stress. She is so enthusiastic about CBD products that she has created her own CBD brand.
She is one of Hollywood’s favourite actresses, film producers and businesswomen who starred in the famous sitcom “Friends” and a number of blockbusters. Jennifer Aniston is also one of the highest-paid actresses in the world.
She has said that CBD helps her deal with stress, anxiety and pain. The actress has also praised the potential benefits of the compound without the need to get high. Of course, one should not forget how irresistible she is in her 50s. Great job, Jennifer!
Michael J. Fox
A well-known actor who has a deeply personal story about CBD. After a stellar start to his career in the 70s starring in famous Hollywood movies like “Back to the Future” and “Teen Wolf”, in 1991 (being 29 at the time), he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease – a slowly progressive degenerative disease characterised by resting tremors, stiffness, slowing and decreased movement, and ultimately gait disturbances and/or postural instability.
Michael used CBD oil to heal from this chronic disease, which helped him continue his career. Moreover, in 2000, he established the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and over more than the past two decades, he has exceeded 1.4 billion US dollars for research. The foundation has provided evidence of the potential benefits of CBD in helping to protect brain cells with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant mechanisms.
Another famous actor who certainly needs no introduction and is also known for his positive attitude towards CBD is Morgan Freeman. He launched his film career in 1964 and has starred in more than 350 movies over the years! Unfortunately, a few accidents have marred this legend’s path in the world of cinema. After a dangerous crash in 2008, Morgan had to take a break from his work. Following this terrible event, he started using CBD to treat his fibromyalgia (severe muscle pain).
Morgan Freeman is a famous eco-activist and a strong advocate of plant-based medicine. Freeman also became the owner of a ranch in a bee sanctuary in July 2014.
Let’s move on to the sports celebrities who also endorse or take CBD. And we’d like to start with one of the greatest female footballers of modern times. We’re guessing that most people, if not all, know this person. “Iron Mike”, “Kid Dynamite” and “The Baddest Man on the Planet” – all these monikers belong to him.
