Meeting the Marry Jane Team: Interview with Camila Maria Alvarez (Part 2)

Welcome to the second installment of our talk with Camila Maria Alvarez, quality manager at Marry Jane. If you missed the first part of the conversation, you can find it here. Enjoy the interview as Camila shares some of her insights about the work of a quality manager at Marry Jane.

Camila, can you describe to us the main challenge(s) that a quality manager can encounter in the course of their job?

From a very personal perspective I consider that the main challenge for a quality manager in a CBD business is the regulatory status of the product itself. Navigating in such a regulatory grey area without clear rules and regulations results quite challenging and exciting at the same time.

What are the most important character traits to have as a quality manager?

First of all, empathy to understand the different backgrounds, perspectives, interests and expectations from the team members and all stakeholders involved in the CBD business. A technical background is also a very useful trait.

Have you tried Marry Jane’s products? If so, do you have any favourites?

Of course, this is part of my job. A full-spectrum oil made with MCT is one of my favourites.

What is the most encouraging and inspiring part of your work?

Let me give you a small introduction before I answer this question. I grew up in Bogota and during my bachelor studies, I had the opportunity to get to know frequent users of cannabis substances. It happened that these people were brilliant, creative and very peaceful guys. From this observation I began to question myself things such as the legal status of many substances that generate serious health impacts such as sugar, alcohol, nicotine. If these substances are widely accepted by society, why are cannabis substances so badly criminalized around the whole world?

So, the most encouraging and inspiring thing of my work is to be part of an industry that fights against this status quo. And of course, making sure that these “old friends” around the world have access to high quality CBD products!

How would you describe the work atmosphere at Marry Jane? What would you highlight?

It’s a very dynamic one. A young and dynamic work atmosphere with many ups and downs and also many possibilities to think out of the box.

And now to our final question. What does CBD and Marry Jane mean to you?

It means a personal and passionate battle against the economic, political and cultural standards of our society.

We would like to thank Camila Maria Alvarez for the interview and her time. Stay tuned for more interesting content about Marry Jane’s team members and don’t miss the upcoming rendezvous next Monday.
